Bathroom Remodeling and Plumbing

If you are planning on a bathroom remodeling project, the plumbing is one major part of your remodel that you don't want to overlook. Your plumbing system is a major component in your home. Often, it is not thought about until there is some type of problem. Many plumbing problems will require tearing out portions of walls to expose the area that needs attention. There is also the possibility of a plumbing leak to occur in your home. A plumbing leak can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage in a very short amount of time.

When working on a major bathroom remodeling project, the bathroom will be completely gutted and all plumbing will be exposed. This is a good time to examine your plumbing system. If there is work to be done, this is the time to do it. One thing that many people don't realize it that a handle for a shower cannot be replaced unless it is compatible with the shower valve that is located behind the shower wall. If you are planning on replacing bathroom fixtures, make sure to hire a plumber to come in and install a new shower valve.  This is also a great opportunity to install some plumbing upgrades. A recent trend in bathroom remodeling has been the addition of body jets and multiple shower heads. This will require some special plumbing and specialty shower fixtures.
