Framing Basement Ceiling
This is a helpful tip for the DIY enthusiast that may be considering finishing their basement on their own. This is a tip for the framing portion of the basement finish. All of your walls that you build in the basement should not be in direct contact with the ceiling joist above. A gap of 3/4" is recommended to allow for expansion of the concrete floor. Although unlikely, concrete can swell which could cause the floor above to heave.
